This is a lovely medieval castle ruin. You access it quite easy from the parking lot below the main path. The path is suitable for wheelchairs, but a bit steep. You will be rewarded with a stunning view of Bad Kissingen. There are some informative signs about the history of this castle and its owners. You do not need to pay entrance. Its free :-)

A must-see in Bad Kissingen! Burgruine Botenlauben is absolutely worth the visit. The location is perfect – up on a hill with a stunning panoramic view over the whole city and surrounding nature. The atmosphere is peaceful and the ruins are beautiful and authentic, giving a real sense of medieval charm. It’s a great spot to take photos, relax, or just enjoy the scenery. If you’re in Bad Kissingen, don’t miss this place.

I was stationed in Bad Kissingen from April 1961 to October 1963, in the U.S. Army. I was in the 2nd Squadron, 14th Armored Cavalry. H troop, a tank company. It is a beautiful friendly city and I have many great memories of it.
